Big problem of this hiding prior edits by other users

Currently, this would hide pages with prior edits from other users from the Watchlist. So for example, if one has filtered away CitationBot that just copyedits reference parameters but shortly (depending how often the page gets changed and how often you check the Watchlist) before the edit there could have been a vandalism edit inserting some text into the page. The page would not show up on the Watchlist due to the filter. This could be and can be exploited by simply requesting for example CitationBot to improve the page after making the edit so that the page gets checked by less (and possibly no) users.

Thanks. I've been aware of this aspect for nearly a decade, and I concur a companion fix (the one you mention) is needed. That is why I created another wish for that purpose: Community Wishlist/Wishes/Watchlist should show prior revision to a page when filter(s) hide the current revision of the page
