Thanks for your wish!
[edit]Hi @Anupamdutta73 - thanks for sharing your wish with us. I'm curious to better understand your needs. A quick search term for "Geography India shows this result: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=geography+india&title=Special:Search&ns0=1 and "Olympics Swimming" generates this result: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=olympics+swimming&title=Special:Search&ns0=1
There is also a category search as "Category:Olympic Games" with multiple nested subcategories. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Olympic_Games
Could you explain what is insufficient with the current search results, and what sort of output you'd expect with your wish? JWheeler-WMF (talk) 16:16, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Anupamdutta73 can you please revise your wish to be more descriptive about the problems you're encountering? If not, we will archive this wish shortly. JWheeler-WMF (talk) 18:48, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @JWheeler-WMF, The "Search" button will look more professional if it is divided into "Search for a (particular) Article" and "Search for (all the relevant articles) under the Topic". Anupamdutta73 (talk) 02:22, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- I think the issue is or may be about something important where some improvements could bring substantial benefit to users but it's not very detailed and it would be good if you added more info on what solution you propose such as an image that shows it. Notably, deepcategory can be used for this. However, it often breaks on large categories because of 1) miscategorization / drift of deeply nested subcats 2) lots of subcategories. There are several issues about potential improvements to it, e.g. see phab:T376440#10354943 and one issue is that only very few users know of this.
