Simply upgrade to Vector to 2022
[edit]No need to work on a legacy skin when there already is a new skin. Prototyperspective (talk) 22:13, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- I suggest the wish is archived as there is little reason to continue complex work on a legacy skin to add UI changes that were made in the new skin. Prototyperspective (talk) 10:58, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
- I'm probably too biased to make this call as I've always hated Vector 2022 (and most other forced UI changes), but I don't think it's appropriate to archive wishes for that sort of reason. IMO wishes should only be archived if they are too vague, not asking for any technical change at all, or technically impossible, and this is none of those. If wishes were archived because individual commenters thought they weren't worth doing then this would devolve into a Community-Wishlist-manager fiefdom not an expression of the community's views. You're welcome to not support, of course. * Pppery * it has begun 06:26, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- If wishes were archived because individual commenters thought they weren't worth doing Very much agree.
- However, this isn't that – I was saying there is little reason to continue complex work on a legacy skin to add UI changes that were made in the new skin. What would be the rationale to change a legacy skin to look like the modern skin when doing so has already been done via the modern skin? It's kind of similar to self-contradicting. Maybe it would be good to mark it as delivered because it's delivered in the new skin that's also the default. If there's a change in the new skin the user does not like and they only like having the TOC be accessible throughout then they could make a new wish about that or make it clear why they aren't just switching to the new skin. - That's just you thinking it's not worth doing repackaged. For better or worse many people (myself included) hate vector 2022, so I don't see what's fundamentally unreasonable about asking that certain features you like be cherry-picked to Vector 2010. * Pppery * it has begun 17:04, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- Isn't the nearly only major change in the skin? What would be the point of having the prior skin if it looks 95% the same as the new skin? What do you dislike about it, that's not related to the TOC change? I don't care if this is archived or not but I don't see a point in asking for an UI change when that UI change has already been implemented unless of course one explained why. - @Pppery and @Alva2004
- Thank you for the feedback on the UI - I'm waiting to hear back from the respective stakeholders, and any other specific feedback on the change would be helpful. MikeZ-WMF (talk) 15:20, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
- I belong to the users, who do not like the new design. For me the only advantage of the new design is the button to the table of contents. In the former design I have always to jump to the head of the article, scroll to the table of contents and then jump to the part I am heading for. --Alva2004 (talk) 16:56, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
- I will pass on this feedback and circle back. MikeZ-WMF (talk) 10:06, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks again for your feedback and apologies for the delay.
- I spoke with the UX team and unfortunately there are no plans to bring this back as it's a legacy skin, which means it shouldn't be supported anymore. MikeZ-WMF (talk) 14:17, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
