Clarification?
[edit]Hey @Noe, thanks for submitting this wish. Perhaps it is the translation at work, however I'm not exactly sure what you're suggesting or asking for with regards to memorizing settings via the appearances tab. Are you asking to customize which settings appear in the appearances tab? JWheeler-WMF (talk) 21:36, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello JWheeler-WMF,
- Well, no. I like to see the whole list of options in my preferences, and to activate a bunch of them. I consider the time I spend on the wiki websites to be for reading and editing, usually not both at the same time.
- When I am reading the wikis, I want to have some customization (default size of pictures, lateral menus, some custom CSS, gadgets to have some extra options like go-top button, and more). When I turn on full-editing mode, I want to have another customization, another set of parameters (another default size of pictures, more lateral menus, another custom CSS, gadgets to color some links or to add Javascript parts, and more). I would be please to have a simple switch button to alternate between config 1 and config 2. Maybe more than two configurations if I want to have another setting for editathon for example. The final button would depend on the first step, a way to record a configuration somewhere in my preferences and to create another record. I feel this is the toughest part to implement.
- Some more details: A specific wiki community should have a way to create some presets with default parameters for profiles. Some defaults may be shared crosswiki as it is already possible with some settings.
- Let me know if it is still unclear, I may try to draw some wireframes to explain my idea.
- PS: I haven't received the notification because of the diacritic in my name 🙂 Noé (talk) 18:15, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
