Similar wish
[edit]Hello @Sabelöga: I have added the same wish here Making Wikidata available in multiple languages for all visitors without signing in, can we group them? --Sandra HANBO (talk) 23:58, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Sandra Hanbo Yes, granted that they're the same wish. But as I interpret it as that they're not. My wish regards the ability to view the languages Wikimedia language code in the labels box on Wikidata, while your wish regards the ability to change the UI language while logged out. While I though support your wish, I read it as our wishes are two different wishes. Sabelöga (talk) 00:08, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
"in the Wikidata label box"?
[edit]What do you mean with that? Prototyperspective (talk) 17:10, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
Pinging @Sabelöga I'm also mystified, could you answer Prototyperspective here? - Jmabel (talk) 07:35, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Jmabel @Prototyperspective I mean the box that all the labels are found in. This box that is: https://imgur.com/a/sRz2juw . What is it called if not the label box? The outdated d:Help:Label was not of any help here. Sabelöga (talk) 09:38, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- Ah that one, thanks; I thought you probably mean the box of Wikipedia links at the bottom (in the screenshot, it's on the right) that also has a language label. By the way, if that help page is outdated, I suggest you leave a short comment pointing that out on its talk page.
- So you'd like to see language codes like "en" and "es" in that label box? Maybe you could edit the wish to make it clearer and also explain how that would make it easier to contribute in multiple languages and on international subjects – I don't see how it would (maybe because you know the language codes better than the language's name?). Prototyperspective (talk) 13:22, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Sabelöga: Since I don't think any phrase will be terribly clear hear, you might want to link that imgur image in the content page (or bring it into commons so you can link internally; I don't think anything there would be a copyright issue). - Jmabel (talk) 17:10, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- That is correct. And yes, for some languages the language code or the language's local name is more striking and intuitive for me than the Swedish name for that language. I have tried to clarify the wish, if someone would like to mark it for translation I could translate it to English. Sabelöga (talk) 14:47, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
