@AVossbrinck(WMF): Hello. The page is fully protected to avoid users being hacked by changing the .xml file to other malicious links. Is that xml file going to stay after the page update you do plan? —MarcoAurelio 21:50, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Need for this here

Just curious, but why is this here and not on the wmf wiki? Also, I think the naming should be changed to something like "Wikimedia Foundation finance department" if it is kept here, to make it clear that it isn't community related. -- Ajraddatz (talk) 21:12, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

@Ajraddatz: thank you for the inquiry. All department and team pages are on Meta-Wiki and not Foundation-Wiki (or sometimes MediaWiki.org in the case of Product/Technology teams). Examples can be found on the Wikimedia Foundation departments page. Finance was actually in both places, and we are attempting to consolidate into one place. This is done (and has for several years) for a number of reasons, including that Foundation Wiki is a closed wiki and currently difficult to translate. Currently, most of the department and team page names do not include Wikimedia Foundation in them, but I would be curious to hear what people's thoughts are on that. Many of these pages were created many years ago (this one in 2006 for example), and as a result, there was not always a consistent approach to naming. I think moving forward, that is something we would be interested in addressing. There are a number of discussions like this happening across the Foundation and community on how to best utilize Meta-Wiki vs. Foundation-Wiki. --Gregory Varnum (WMF) (talk) 21:36, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
