Help with skins?

Where can I get help with thesecustom skins? When I download these, I get some extra things in the left menu which I want to remove. These I get:

  • SEARCH
  • TOOLBOX
  • LANGUAGES

I don't see them in the template php-file. When I view the source in my webbrowser, they are shown like this in the source:

div class='portlet' id='p-SEARCH' div class='portlet' id='p-TOOLBOX' div class='portlet' id='p-LANGUAGES'

Any idea?

New details template by mistake, cleanup

I never realized there was a Gallery_of_user_styles/details template on this page, so I created my own, Template:Skin. I've already done some cleaning up in Gallery_of_user_styles#Original_skins with the new template before I hit other users using a different template.

Whatever shall we do? :) [[

Visual cleanup finished

I've updated Gallery_of_user_styles/details and the page itself. It now looks clean and pretty.

Cleanup

Is it safe to delete skins that don't offer the code for download? For an example, see Gallery_of_user_styles#Intient.com.27s_open_source_projects_wiki_skin --Sam Odio 02:09, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Agree. Remove Gray Lady. per his website "Note: This style will no longer be revised or maintained" PLus he made a new one called Drone

Missing Edit Toolbar

I'm using Mediawiki 1.9.2 and toolbar disappears when using a skin.

Installing Skins

To install a skin, what files/folders need to be updated? I want to use the DB skin.

Nice work with the Ultrawaffle thing. Pretty nifty.!

Floating sidebar

Has anyone figured out how to make a floating sidebar? I want one, obviously.

And by floating, I mean the sidebar doesn't move when you scroll the rest of the page. I guess that could be seen as "fixed" depending on your perspective... - Omegatron 13:57, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

The easiest way to do this is to use the position:fixed property in your CSS. This works fine in gecko-based browsers, but unfortunately not in Internet Explorer. For some reason, Microsoft has not seen fit to implement this yet.
It is also possible to do it by using JavaScript. --Zanthalon 03:37, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Thumbnail backgrond

How does one change the background for thumbnails for the monobook skin? I don't see where the background for the thumbnails is set other than using the div.thumb div selector...overriding which still has a light gray background around it. See my PhutureWiki user page for what I mean. 24.171.107.14 06:48, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)
