Withdrawal in favor of other candidates

@Qgil-WMF: When I submitted my candidacy, there were no others listed as having submitted for the North America region. Since then, I see that two others have submitted, Josh Lim (Sky Harbor) & Matt Vetter (Matthewvetter). Both have participated in WCNA, & I would happily withdraw & defer to either of these individuals. Peaceray (talk) 17:05, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

@Peaceray, if a candidate wants to withdraw, of course they can do it. Just note that, with the deadline now extended until the end of March, more candidates may appear, and in the end the selection process will be done not just based on individual qualities, but also on the skills and experiences needed by the team as a whole. Resorting to sports for an easy comparison, maybe someone is a good goalkeeper but there are already three selected for other seats, and in the meantime we have no mid-fielders and you happen to be a good one... (apologies if you would have preferred a different analogy). All this to say, you already did the work of writing your statements, and you could stay and see how things go with other candidates and as the selection process starts. If we end up in a situation where you are a strong candidate for a seat, we will talk, and if and when that happens you can share your thoughts, including your feedback about other candidates you think are fitting for the GRDC. However, if you still think you want withdraw, just let us know.
