Are we to have only this one or more events / workshops on "Hub" theme? (edited)[edit]

Want we have the one or more events / discuses on theme "Hub"? ✍️ Dušan Kreheľ (talk) 22:19, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No. I mean, how is a way to the final text section of Hub in MC? One "big" workshop, or more session? ✍️ Dušan Kreheľ (talk) 12:56, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For follow-up work sessions on "Hubs" in 2022?[edit]

As noted in the email there are no immediate plans for follow-up after this workshop.

I am interested in contributing to this development but also like Riskier have this day fixed long ago (so could likely only join as an observer for part of it). Think that the agenda for 27th is ambitious especially if it includes many people and all of the mentioned open questions. It would be great if the session is planned with answering only some of these questions in order of urgency (which is relative to needs of different entities, but still possible to do) and some questions can more easily be answered in 2022 and maybe in different ways.

I would suggest for 2022 to consider also more focused work sessions (focus groups?) by separating regional and thematic hubs, as well as maybe just grouping 2-3 hubs at the time for 'bilateral' or 'trilateral' prototyping worksessions of tentative coordinations mechanisms and collaboration agendas. This is something that I think can be useful action for both general synchronization and individual Hub initiatives to advance, as well as give agency (and resources) for the hubs to develop methodologies that are not from WMF and general with 'always' 'everyone' in mind (pressure that is also a hurdle for practicalities to be addressed 'better'). These findings can then be circulated again both globally and contextually within constituencies of each of the hubs.

@Zblace: Thank you for your interest. We did hear similar cases from a few people. Unfortunately, we also wanted to have a single session where everyone can discuss at the same time (in our experience, duplicating discussions usually doesn't help so much in reaching a common agreement).
We will be doing our best to make the materials available to those who can't be present. Mainly, we will: 1. Keep a thorough documentation of the results, like our previous events, and 2. Try to record and share parts of the event (like previous events as well, it may include presentations but not discussions).
Regarding follow-up, we do, indeed, expect that it is needed, and we are planning for it. While we don't have dates to announce yet, we do expect the next event to take place in early 2022, since there is a long break coming.
I like your suggestion about focus groups. It might be more helpful to keep everyone in the same conversation for now until we agree on the principles, but it may be well the case that a single conversation will become too generic for the specific hubs in the near future. If you cannot make it to the session, I can still include this as a piece of feedback in the documentation --Abbad (WMF) (talk) 12:25, 22 November 2021 (UTC).[reply]
@Abbad (WMF): That would be great if you can. As I wrote above I could make it partly and should not take a place for people that can commit fully and with full focus. --Zblace (talk) 06:30, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The contribution to the topic[edit]

Is Hub only for the communities? Is it only a one way? Why we don't have the second? The second way as: WMF or SWAN? The WMF and SWAN don't need find a quality people? Only they wait, if people join automatic to they. They gave our the grain (meta, web pages), and must we pick automatic the grain?

As example: The job offers. None the search? The people must search manual?

Epilogue: Can have a Hubs the specifically benefit for the WMF or SWAN?

P.S.: I will not attend the meeting, therefore as follows.

We are people from different backgrounds, with different experiences. Provide some basic course / certificate regarding volunteer work. More in Epilogue.

I included some such course and I can't regret it (In style of project management (about the team), psychology (personality disorders, mental illness), …).

Epilogue: Recommend, mediate, inform, educate (need as a "Basic WM Volunteer Course") in areas such as project management (about it), psychology (personality disorders, mental illness) and sociology (Generation X, Y relationships and Z; Intergenerational). It is also possible to add Basics of technology (template, basic CSS and HTML), Basic tools (Wiki editor, Pageview tool), Basics of local environment (For Slovakia: CCE, SWAN, M) and Basics of Wikimedia Movement.
