Prevention in favor of Google Books

I prefer open access Google Books over Internet Archive, which all too often requires registration: how does one stop InternetArchiveBot from overwriting perfectly good Google Books links – and then stop it from coming back again and again and again...? More Phases on Road Map?

Phases 1 and 2 address dead links on the English wiki.

The bot can also create archives for live links, according to step 2 in the "What does it do" section. That would be a very good project, and ideally it would also put parameters into references (archive-url=, archive-date=, url-status=live), so we're ready when the original link rots. Permission error

I keep getting a "Permission error" error message when I try to use the IABot. Aoba47 (talk) 22:24, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

@Aoba47: I'm guessing you're using it for English Wikipedia, if so you need to change to "enwiki – English Wikipedia" (beside your username on top right corner) in IABot Management Interface afterwards you should probably not get any permission error when trying to run bot. Hopefully that answer your question. Paper9oll (talk) 09:38, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
