Legitimacy of this decision[edit]

In the current state I'm not aware of any document or right that would allow the selected/elected members of the MCDC to decide that the group should become a closed one. The whole notion of the "complexity" of this processs is self-defeating and doesn't instill confidence in the MCDC to be able to actually complete the work they were tasked to do. You can also still add new members at a later stage without revisiting old decisions, that's how every normal committee or board operates. A less distrusting reaction towards everything that comes from "the outside" would be helpful in building trust between the MCDC and the communities.
