Talk:QW2022/Proposal

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Continuous discussion since 2019[edit]

The time commitment, budget, planning, and format here all seem in line with what other wiki communities have done and found to be successful.

The Wiki LGBT+ group meets about monthly and we have been seriously discussing this conference with written proposals since 2019, with other planning starting sooner. We would have had this conference in 2020 were it not for COVID. The online working days in 2021 went well, and throughout all of this we have been planning for a global LGBT+ conference. This online format is now tested with multiple other wiki events and the Wiki LGBT+ community is ready to organize for it. There are no surprises here. Besides the organizing team listed, wiki people in many meetings have discussed this event for years.

This is a great proposal and it should move forward. Blue Rasberry (talk) 21:30, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for highlighting the history. A section QW2022/Proposal#History_and_legacy has been added to acknowledge this context, and to ensure that when plans are detailed for organizing conference content that the existing 2020 registration lists and proposed speakers are contacted again as a priority. --QW22 (talk) 13:34, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Hubs"[edit]

Hello - thank you to all involved for this thoughtful and detailed proposal. I would highlight that it may be best to avoid using the words "hubs" - as you may know this term is also used in the Movement Strategy conversations for a somewhat different concept. It might be best to use a different word here. Regards, Chris Keating (The Land) (talk) 15:31, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for highlighting it. "Hubs" have been swapped to be "Nodes". --QW22 (talk) 17:33, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
