Talk:Quotes

I'm not sure at all that those quotations belong to Meta. They're by relevant persons and they can be moved to Wikiquote, see e.g. q:Wikipedia (where some quotations by wikimedians can be added, too). --Nemo 11:11, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

I agree, this is offtopic for Meta. It would be a good idea to move this to Wikiquotes. Pmlineditor (t · c · l)
Wikiquote is too stringent in sourcing the quotes & these quotes having no bookish source, they will be deleted there. Besides, these quotes will mostly be used for the promotion of Wikimedia projects so definitely in the scope of meta. (:Julien:) 15:33, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
There may be a role (and it's a big maybe) for this sort of boosterish page at Meta, but I don't think un-citability is a wise inclusion criterion. That is just an invitation to post bogons. If there is need of a "Wikimedia vanity page" it might be appropriate to include things that are not sufficiently widely quoted for inclusion at Wikiquote, but if it is seriously going to be used for promotional purposes then unsubstantiated attribution of remarks to living people is highly problematic. ~ Ningauble 17:45, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
P.S. − There are several interesting quotes at Wikipedia Signpost/2011-01-17/In the news, about which I would like to say: This is how it is done. ~ Ningauble 20:00, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

I've merged a similar old page which was speedy deleted several years ago as offtopic. Nemo 13:17, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
