Talk:Requests for comment/Global ban for Tobias Conradi

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Motion to restrict editing of this RfC to registered users[edit]

Neither Tobias Conradi nor his socks are blocked here, therefore I see no need to allow unregistered IPs to vandalize the discussion, especially if they revert administrative edits. Pinging @Steinsplitter, GZWDer, Billinghurst, and Nikki: (somewhat arbitrary selection, apologies if I forgot someone important) —Galaktos (talk) 20:45, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalizing are those users that remove comments, not those that add comments. Forcing users to contribute logged-in is covered by which Wikimedia policy? Looks like best dictatorship if admins delete and restrict opposing opinions and requests for clarification. 91.9.105.115 00:50, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that if the IP is the user, and I think its pretty clear to all that it is, that they need to log in with their regular account to comment. Otherwise they need to stick to one account. For something like this though it would really be better if they used their regular account because people are going to assume that any IP is them at this point and automatically assume bad faith based on the history. Its just human nature. Reguyla (talk) 19:46, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Reguyla, you wrote: "I agree that if the IP is the user" - what do you mean by "the IP" and "the user"? I see several user names and several IP numbers. 91.9.120.193 06:48, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
What I meant was that the IP's in question all appear to be the same person based on their writing style and if they are the person in question (ie you) then they should login with their account if they are able and comment using that account only. If they/you are not able to use that account, then they/you should stick with one IP rather than using multiples. Reguyla (talk) 17:22, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
