Talk:Requests for comment/Outreach migration

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Is this already happening?[edit]

Hello, Romaine. I understood from the WMF communication that this migration had already been decided and was happening. Could you please provide a bit more information about whether or not this RfC has led to a pause in the migration? What will happen if the community signals opposition to the migration? Thanks. --Joalpe (talk) 16:07, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Joalpe, I am not sure if I am the right person to ask this. What I know is that the writing process of the Education newsletter takes place on Meta since last edition. For the rest nothing seems to have moved yet. (Only moving the GLAM newsletter is problematic due technical issues.) As I wrote earlier elsewhere, with this kind of big decisions I think it is a must to have a solid decision, which can either be made by WMF, or (in my opinion preferable) by the community. As long a solid decision is missing, I can only pause the process so far it is in my hands. In the previous weeks I have asked WMF if they wanted to come to such a decision, and it stayed completely silent. At the moment there is one thing I am concerned of and that I see so far almost no GLAM/Education coordinator in the RfC, which would lead to a incomplete representation of the community that is using Outreach Wiki. @Romaine: Thank you for the answer. I agree with you that such a big decision must be based on a solid decision-making procedure. --Joalpe (talk) 14:23, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia & Education User Group[edit]

Romaine, hello. Just a minor correction about the mention to the Wikipedia & Education User Group, of which I am a member of the board. The March 2021 meeting was recorded, and as you can see this agenda point was brought by the WMF and not presented as a deliberative discussion, and no mention was made about shutting down Outreach Wiki, but more specifically about the WMF-driven decision to migrate the Education Newsletter to meta.wikimedia. There was no reaction from the participants of the user group of either support or objection. --Joalpe (talk) 21:44, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

should this page not be: Outreach wiki migration[edit]

I know insiders like to be using shortest form possible, but I think here it would be useful to name the page 'Outreach wiki migration' as it is more specific - no? --Zblace (talk) 06:16, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
