So where to discuss the standard usage issues?[edit]

The closure of Initial discussions suggested that Wikidata issues should be discussed within Wikidata, and twn issues ditto.

It is sadly however, that I don't see anywhere that suggested, if someone is intended to discussing the standard conflictions between ISO 639 (where language policy uses and straighted) and BCP47 (where Wikidata uses and preferred). There is not a single place to discuss this. But do understand that LangCom and Wikidata have different needs, and therefore different approaches can be appropriate. For example: d:Q132911 has a label in en of "elevator", with an alias of "lift". It also has a label in en-gb of "lift". And that's entirely appropriate. But that doesn't mean LangCom will ever agree to allowing a Wikipedia in en-gb. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:01, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
