I think "If you wish to request a named account for global [un]locking, please request a global [un]lock here instead" is meaningless and the correct form is "If you wish to request a named account for global [un]blocking, please request a global [un]lock here instead". I wanted to correct it myself but I thought that it would be better to ask an English native-speaker to do it. AMERICOPHILE 00:17, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. Unfortunately they are two very different things. When an account is locked, the owner is knocked out of their account quite literally, due to a bug that has yet to be fixed. As such, accounts are not globally blocked using the traditional Special:Block, because that is not technically possible. Global blocks are therefore solely reserved for IP addresses. Locking and blocking distinguish the two. Hope that helps. PeterSymonds (talk) 00:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
