Explanation of disqualification[edit]

According to the policy "before applying for stewardship" a candidate have to "hold or have held administrator rights on one Wikimedia Foundation project for a period of at least three months." The deadline to submit the candidacy is January 28, 2012, and the candidate was given administrator rights on Portuguese Wikipedia (the only one he was give administrator rights ever) in November 24, 2011. As the candidate holds the chance of having administrator rights on a wiki for 2 months and 4 days (up to the deadline), the candidate is disqualified. — Tanvir | Talk ] 15:31, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is the tool broken, then? Because it says that he is eligible. [1]. Perhaps it considers the Eliminadores right as counting as an admin right for these purposes? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 18:38, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is somehow getting confused with that group, though I'm not sure why. It might be something worth asking Pathoschild about. Ajraddatz (Talk) 19:08, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it's about the eliminador, but a general bug. For example, I've been an admin on eswiki since April 2011, which is less than a year ago, but the tool adds a few months. However, the tool is not more important than the policy, so this candidate is correctly disqualified. Nevertheless, it would be nice to add a kind of warning to warn users that the tool may be wrong. I updated the script with a new algorithm that fixes the miscounting and enforces the deadline (see Savh and Willy Weazley). Let me know if there are any other issues. —Pathoschild 06:57:26, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
