When would the voting process start?
[edit]I am very skeptical about the time where voting starts. The main page says 14:00 UTC; the questions page says 21:00. Shouldn't it be 14:00 or was the time pushed forward? If the earlier, shouldn't there be a fix to the corresponding templates? ToadetteEdit (talk) 11:32, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- It should be 14:00. I don’t know where 21:00 came from on some pages. Corrected, thanks for catching that. AramilFeraxa (talk) 11:50, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
Baidax
[edit]Is he eligible? He seems to have submitted his statement three hours after the deadline, at about 3 am UTC on February 1st. Leaderboard (talk) 16:07, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- They submitted their statement at 23:52 UTC on Januar 31 [1]. Johannnes89 (talk) 21:52, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Johannnes89 Thanks, and apologies to the OP. The clock on the top-right (enabled as a gadget) only shows UTC time, hence the error. Leaderboard (talk) 09:43, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
Voting page?
[edit]Where is the link to the actual voting page? Kudpung (talk) 22:11, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Kudpung There is a seperate page for every candidate. On Stewards/Elections_2026 you can see behind every candidates name a "vote" or you directly click on Yes / No / Neutral. Der-Wir-Ing ("DWI") talk 23:10, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, Kudpung. It wasn't immediately apparent to me either! To vote, return to content page Stewards/Elections_2026 same as https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Stewards/Elections_2026 Scroll to the grid of candidates, each with different colored circles in columns for choices "yes", "no", etc. Click your choice. That takes you to the candidate's vote (tabulation?) page. You'll see VOTE! in a BIG grey box toward the top. Click it. You can then enter your vote, with any (optional) comments. Return to Election 2026 for Stewards and repeat for the next candidate.
Ooops edit conflict! No offense to Der-Wir-Ing or his more succinct explanation.--FeralOink (talk) 23:13, 7 February 2026 (UTC)- @FeralOink (That's a name I'm familiar with ;) Thank you so much for that! As one of the longest and oldest Wikipedia users and a retired expert in communication, I was beginning to believe I'm suffering from an age-related problem. The authors of this election could certainly have made an effort to make it more clear. Why can't it be a simple Secure Poll like all other elections? Cheers, Kudpung (talk) 23:21, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
Use of the strings confirmable-yes and confirmable-no in the tables on the steward elections page
[edit]Tiõrv! Can someone explain why these two MediaWiki core strings have been used in the tables to indicate "Yes" or "No"? They are normally used to answer the string Confirmable-confirm, which is the question ''Are {{GENDER:$1|you}} sure?''. Not all languages have a blanket yes/no; for instance, the Skolt Saami translations used in the strings are correct to answer the aformentioned question, but make no sense in the table as standalone yes and no. - Yupik (talk) 18:38, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Yupik: It wasn't the case originally.
{{Steward elections}}was changed to use Coll-yes/Coll-no, then to Confirmable-yes/Confirmable-no. If you can improve the template, go ahead. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 18:58, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
Template:Steward election status
[edit]Now that elections are over and the results are announced, I believe {{Steward election status/status}} needs to become closed again. (As far as I'm aware, this changes, among other things, the election status banners on the statistics page and Stewards/Confirm/2026, as well as the transclusions of {{Se-banner}} on the voting pages to state that voting is closed).
