Wikimedia Cloud Services[edit]

This recommendation seems to completely ignore the large ecosystem of tools and bots developed by the community and running on Wikimedia Cloud Services. They often provide mission-critical services to wiki communities and are maintained by 1800+ volunteers.

@GDubuc (WMF): ignore in what sense? Recommendations are high-level and avoid going into too much detail. Should WMCS be called out as somehow special? I guess this is relevant in the sense that, eg in the Q5 sentence “the Wikimedia Foundation develops the majority of the software deployed on Wikimedia Foundation servers.” (emphasis mine), Cloud Services servers are WMF servers. I had always interpreted the sentence as “WMF production servers” ; and more in general “the decision making and execution of software development” as “organization-based software development” ; but I suppose this could be amended for clarity :) Jean-Fred (talk) 18:11, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
