"You can also test CSS and JavaScript pages even if you have the live preview enabled."

@Johan (WMF)): I don't know what this means. I can speculate it's about pages like Special:MyPage/common.js and "test" means "preview" but I'm not sure. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 22:38, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexis Jazz: When you edit pages like Special:MyPage/common.js and click “Preview”, the code on the page is immediately executed, even without saving it, so that you can test it, and just close the browser tab even if you make serious mistakes that prevent you from pressing Ctrl+Z (like redirecting yourself to another page unconditionally). This test feature, however, doesn’t work with the live preview, so the live preview is simply off from now on on user CSS/JS subpages even if it’s turned on in the preferences. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 00:28, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Tacsipacsi: Thanks, I clarified this on Tech/News/2020/42/nl and Tech/News/2020/42/en-gb. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 00:12, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
