Request for template help
[edit]Hello tech-savvy users! The U4C is in the process of setting up our case handling process, and we would like your help in creating a template that is displayed at the top of all case subpages. We are all slightly computer illiterate and are hoping that someone else can help out here :-)
The template would display at the top of the case page and give the following information:
- Status of the case - request, active, declined, closed. Maybe even have a different colour for the template depending on the case status? (addendum: would also be good if the template would automatically assign the right category to the case - Category:Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee/Cases/Requests, Category:Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee/Cases/Active or Category:Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee/Cases/Closed (declined cases can use closed for the category).
- In all cases, the date that the case request was filed. For cases marked as "request", we would also like to have the date two weeks after the case was filed indicated in the template somewhere, as the date of U4C accept/decline decision.
- Username of the person who filed the request
- For declined or closed cases, a reason box where the U4C can provide a quick summary of the decision (which will be listed below on the page)

Changes
[edit]We would prefer to not raise the protection level of this page but with some recent edits the list of open cases does not report some cases anymore and this is not useful. Sorting
[edit]Looking at Universal Code of Conduct/Coordinating Committee/Cases#Case requests, some pages are suffixed with the year while some are not. Should all cases be sorted accordingly so anyone who wants to read the cases can have an easier time finding them? --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 10:20, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- Personally speaking I would like to move all the pages to a title like "Universal Code of Conduct/Coordinating Committee/Cases/YYYY/Casename". This will leave things a little messy because we need to keep all the redirects, pages are linked cross wiki (or is there a way to find those links and fix them?). I wanted to start doing it as soon as I have the time to begin and finish to move all the pages (but any help is always welcome! :-)) --Civvì (talk) 16:21, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

- I agree with @Minorax and @Civvì. A couple of years from now, we are going to want a system that lets us see which pages are recent and which are older. Renaming is fine, but some method for making the pages get created in the correct place would also be good. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:01, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

- I appreciate this issue being raised. I wonder if we want to keep the burden for notification on the filer or if it would be better to place the burden for notification on the U4C as a more neutral group. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 23:02, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

Evidence on WhatsApp group "Arabic Wikipedia Admins"
[edit]Hi. My account on Arabic Wikipedia was blocked for 3 days without prior warning or discussion.
This occurred after I participated in a discussion where @Dr-Taher had blocked a user. In my comment, I asked Dr-Taher: "Please, as a personal request, if you are in the WhatsApp group called 'Arabic Wikipedia Admins,' don't allow my comment here to become a subject of mockery in the WhatsApp group, as has happened several times before, and don't allow to add new descriptions to me, such as the one I was previously described as 'Nanor, the International Controller of Human Puppets.'"
My request to @Dr-Taher was for my own protection. Many times, my contributions to Arabic Wikipedia have been the subject of ridicule and mockery in that WhatsApp group, and I have been given many labels. To avoid repeating that mockery and protect myself, I asked Dr-Taher for that favor. He did not comment on my request.
About 12 hours later, my account on Arabic Wikipedia was blocked for 3 days without any prior discussion or warning. The reason given for the block was: "Repeated harassment of users ..."
The admin @Mohammed Qays, who blocked my account, considered that my request to Dr-Taher without any evidence, to be: "harassment, stalking, and targeting of a group of users (admins). .... and makes the community perceive that admins attack and insult users in groups outside of Wikipedia (such as WhatsApp)."
To unblock my account, evidence must be provided to the admin who blocked my account, he mentioned: "repeating accusations without evidence... may increase the duration of the ban for the same reasons." The evidence is in the WhatsApp group, but I'm not a member there as I'm not an admin on Arabic Wikipedia. How can access this evidence? Do I need to fill a request on Meta-Wiki to investigate and review the WhatsApp group conversations?
I'm not filing a complaint against anyone here; I'm simply trying to find a way to access the needed evidence to have my account unblocked and remove it from my block log because I have definitely not "Repeated harassment of users".
As you know there is no arbitration committee on Arabic Wikipedia and the mockery happened on WhatsApp and the ban on Arabic Wikipedia so I directed my questions and the request for investigation to you the U4C.
It's worth noting that I haven't mentioned any usernames in my comments during the discussions, and I only brought up the issue of being mocked to protect myself from a similar situation in current discussions on Arabic Wikipedia and not as it was mentioned in the block reasons. I was not given any room for discussion before the ban or even to suggest a time period in which may provide evidence before the ban.
I believe that anyone can contribute to Wikimedia projects without feeling that they might be the subject of ridicule. NANöR (talk) 13:57, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

- This matter falls under Arabic Wikipedia procedures. As outlined in the blocking policy (w:ar:ويكيبيديا:سياسة المنع), a blocked user has the right to request an unblock. Such a request is then reviewed through a discussion involving the blocking administrator and other administrators who may consider the block unjustified and support lifting it.

- There were between 10 to 14 admins from the Arabic Wikipedia in the WhatsApp group when this mockery of me and some other Arabic Wikipedia users occurred. At least five of them participated in the mockery, ridicule, and even abuse, whether directed at me or other users.
- Imagine, at least 10 admins know that I was indeed called 'Nanor, the International Controller of Human Puppets.' "نانور المتحكم الدولي بالدمى البشرية", They also know that my request to Dr. Taher to stop the mockery wasn't, as you claimed on my talk page, "Harassment, stalking, and phishing against a group of users (administrators)"."تحرشاً وتربصاً وتصيدًا لمجموعة من المستخدمين (الإداريين)", but rather a reality they witnessed in the WhatsApp group. Isn't it strange that none of the admins in the WhatsApp group have taken any action to lift the ban?
- This is the state of Arabic Wikipedia, and this is its unfortunate reality. Volunteers are subjected to ridicule and abuse, and when they demand the most basic right—to feel safe and not be subjected to abuse or ridicule while contributing to Arabic Wikipedia, and to be guaranteed protection from such ridicule—they are banned, and the reasons for the ban, such as: (Repeated harassment of users: phishing and stalking against a group of users (administrators)). (تحرش متكرر بالمستخدمين: والتصيد والتربص ضد مجموعة من المستخدمين (الإداريين)), are still recorded in the logs as a fact. None of those who participated in or witnessed the ridicule are preventing it or helping to prevent its recurrence.
- I would also like to draw your attention that your ban of my account was based on an "accusation without evidence," and neither you nor any of the admins who are members of the WhatsApp group have stated that what I mentioned in my comments did not happen or that it is a false claim. If you are a member of that WhatsApp group, your ban may constitute a conflict of interest and an abuse of power, intended to protect yourself and the group. NANöR (talk) 22:39, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

New case notification
[edit]Hello members of U4C, I have just submitted a new case regarding the issues in ArWiki, as I think that the temp arb committee has made several mistakes in its actions so far that makes it part of the problem not the solution. Please check Universal Code of Conduct/Coordinating Committee/Cases/2026/Systematic failure to enforce U4C in ArWiki. There is some issue with the template in this page, I couldn't fix that.
