Abuse of admin privileges, censorship, and unjustified indefinite block on Azerbaijani Wikipedia

[edit]

Dear Wikimedia Trust and Safety Team,

I am writing to report a case of admin abuse and unjustified indefinite blocking on the Azerbaijani Wikipedia (az.wikipedia.org).

I, User:Khidirzada, a contributor with over 5 years of experience and 5,900+ edits, was indefinitely blocked by User:Gadir on 25 July 2025 following a series of constructive and policy-aligned edits and suggestions posted on the “Village Pump” (Kənd Meydanı).

The edits in question included proposals regarding the introduction of the “Page Curation” system and the “Article Wizard” feature, inspired by enwiki practices. These suggestions were written in a neutral tone, formatted correctly, and aimed to improve the Azerbaijani Wikipedia.

However, User:Gadir: • Unilaterally removed the edits, labeling them as “AI-generated” without any proof or policy basis (AI use is not banned by AzWiki policy). • Accused me of “vandalism” despite no rules being broken. • Threatened to block me for continuing to propose improvements. • Deleted my formal complaint posted on Wikipedia:Requests for administrators. • Subsequently blocked me indefinitely, without any transparent reasoning or warning, despite my civil tone and repeated requests for clarification.

This constitutes a clear violation of the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) under the following articles: • Abuse of administrative powers (suppressing legitimate contributions and complaints) • Use of threatening and hostile language • Unfounded accusations damaging a contributor’s reputation • Preventing participation and silencing feedback

I kindly request: 1. A review of this indefinite block decision. 2. An investigation into User:Gadir’s behavior regarding potential abuse of admin status. 3. Restoration of my editing rights and the ability to participate in community discussions.

I remain committed to contributing positively and collaboratively to Wikipedia and trust in the Foundation’s principles of fairness and open participation.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Sincerely, Khidirzada Khidirzada (talk) 04:11, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

@User:Khidirzada I'm moving this from the talk page of the EG, I think this is a more appropriate space. Civvì (talk) 05:37, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Dear {{@U4C Alert}},
Thank you for your time, attention, and thoughtful comments on this case. I truly appreciate your efforts and your willingness to engage with all aspects of the situation. I would like to offer a few clarifications regarding the concerns raised: The comments and discussions I have contributed were written and submitted in good faith, with the intention to clearly explain my position and contribute to community discussions. There is no local or global Wikimedia policy that prohibits contributors from using helpful drafting tools to organize thoughts or prepare text — especially in non-article spaces such as the Village Pump or user talk pages.
