Talk:Wiki4MediaFreedom edit-a-thon - IV edition

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Berlin 2019[edit]

Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa (OBCT) is a think tank and online media based in Trento, Italy. From October 2015 to March 2016 OBCT has hosted a Wikipedian in Residence in cooperation with Wikimedia Italia and the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), which is based in Leipzig.
OBCT has then launched the Wiki4MediaFreedom initiative to systematise, expand, and update Wikipedia entries on freedom of information and threatened journalism in Europe. Two community events have also been organised, including an edit-a-thon in Belgrade, Serbia in 2016 and one in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2017.
ECPMF is organizing a conference about investigative journalism in Berlin in 31 January and 1st February 2019. As a side-event of the ECPMF conference, with the help from Wikimedia Deutschland we are organizing an edit-a-thon with the purpose of gathering media freedom activists, journalists, media experts, experienced Wikipedia volunteers and having them work together. We would like to know who in the German community would be interested to participate in the edit-a-thon and which days would be better from Saturday 26 to Wednesday 30 of January. --Niccolò Caranti (OBC) (talk) 16:31, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Januar.

Discussion[edit]

Thank you so much for the invitation! I just read the description of the event and I´m so interested, this is totally one of the things I´m cheering for! But as I´m working on a cruise ship starting again December 10th until May 27th, unfortunately, at that time I´m not in Europe... But I really want to take part, so I would be very pleased if you could keep me informed about further meetings and events in this topic via E-mail or my talk page! Thank you for the invitation! On the weekend I should have time (up to now) so I am able to participate! --Flo Sorg (talk) 21:19, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! The edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday 26 January! --Niccolò Caranti (OBC) (talk) 08:07, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Translations into German[edit]

Hallo, with simple translations into German language, mainly from English Language Wikipedia articles, you will not make a lot friends under the german Wikipedia community. Translations except personal knowledge in this field, except own research, are not really liked to be seen. Marcus Cyron (talk) 21:56, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Marcus Cyron: Thank you for your comment! Our list is just a suggestion: you are encouraged to edit/create articles which are not in the list, to add articles to the list and to write original articles instead of translating ones: I've added a note. --Niccolò "Jaqen" Caranti (OBC) (talk) 08:49, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
