Valued images[edit]

Hello Wiki Loves Butterfly team... User @Bodhisattwa: has started to submit your images as Valued Image Candidates on Commons which is great news. It would however be really helpful if you could identify sub-species wherever possible as that would allow us to have VIs for each sub-species. It's also good to crop the images to make the butterflies more easily identifiable. I know this all takes a little longer. I crop to a minimum of about 1200 pixels as you will be able to see on my user page. Best wishes. Charlesjsharp (talk) 23:18, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is a wonderful project[edit]

... that should be shared with Wikicommunities all over the world. Have you thought how the content you gather could be brought to the attention of other Wikicommunities? How it could benefit different language versions? --Kritzolina (talk) 08:16, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User @Kritzolina: Presently we are working on broader spectrum in a regional language of which we have definite future hopes in translating the content in English which will wipe out the present boundary of a particular regional language and make the same open globally. Now, there's a hearty request to you to translate 2 of our existing English developed articles into German language.--Atudu (talk) 06:55, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, ok, ok, you got me here ... where do I find a list of the created articles? --Kritzolina (talk) 19:22, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
User @Kritzolina: A hearty thanks for your eagerness and goodness. [1] you will get the list of the articles. As a starter I request you to start translating with my favorite one Silver Royal and Fluffy tit.--Atudu (talk) 03:55, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WLB for Wiki Loves Broadcast[edit]

Hello, under the shortcut "WLB", we market the project Wiki Loves Broadcast in the German-language Wikipedia. The project is about getting material from (public) broadcasters for Wikipedia. We are doing it very successful in Germany and we would now like to internationalize it. For this purpose we have already created a page in Meta and would like to adopt the shortcut WLB. I hope this is okay for you. --Wikiolo (talk) 07:38, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • No, this is not a reason to suddenly change a shortcut. Firstly a redirect is discussed at a venue or process which is or similar to "redirects for discussion", where discussion should take place that which project or page is more suitable for a shortcut. If more than one page/project qualify here, the redirect should be turned into a disambiguation instead. -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 07:50, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not now There may come a time to make a disambiguation page but right now, Wiki Loves Butterfly is the much more established project here on meta. There is hardly meta content at Wiki Loves Broadcast, whereas there is a lot of content for the Wiki Loves Butterfly project. Redirect WLB to this project until there is consensus to do otherwise. Support for misleading images[edit]

This project should be a very useful addition to Wikimedia resources, but I ask why this project endorses user uploading butterfly images with undisclosed replaced backgrounds? This should not happen. There is a template available to own up to this practice. Also, why do users upload many images to Commons QI but cannot be bothered to vote on other users' nominations? This is selfish behaviour. Charlesjsharp (talk) 13:37, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
