I18N and L10N[edit]

In the example you give "location" is a different thing than "Vienna" and "Austria" in that it is a property and appears on lots of pages. If that gets localised into 280 languages then this phrase can be read in those languages and make sense even if Vienna and Austria have to switch to their fallback "Wien" and "Österreich".

Will it be possible to localise the labels for the various fields in the schemas within Wikidata? So if you ask for one language and it is not available then you will be offered the chance to do some translation? Can you offer a list of available languages for me to select from?

I do realise my questions here are about implementation and user interface and you are still looking at the data design. As long as the data design is compatible with all this then I guess the implementation stuff can follow later. Filceolaire (talk) 19:25, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
