Привет Красный, I appreciate very much that you take aerial photographs and that you want to push this in the near future. You write that the photos could then also be used by other authors in any language version. This is certainly true and actually self-evident, but the use is strongly limited by two circumstances: 1.) Unfortunately, you do not give any geolocation for the photos, so that one often does not know where the photos were taken. 2.) many of the photos only have a description in Russian, which might make it impossible for people without this language knowledge to use them.

I also wonder why you often take photos in bad light, for me at least, the pictures often look quite gloomy, at least too dark. I noticed in one photo that another user's attempt to improve the photo was reset by you.

Я посылаю тебе счастливые пасхальные поздравления из Швейцарии. Lantus (talk) 13:39, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, @Красный: I completely forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lantus, bourgeois Ульрих Лантерманн, I'm employed by Wikimedia CH for community affairs and I'm a member of the Grants Committee. Lantus (WMCH) (talk) 18:58, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response. Mostly, problem of bad light depends on weather conditions: we have not so good climate in here, in North-western Russia and maybe you noticed that I started to do drone photos in October... Also because of drone renting most of time I have no choice but to do pictures in a bad weather because it's better than nothing. As a result I get dark photos, blurred photos, foggy photos... Speaking of the case with my colleague from Ru-Wikivoyage, she overcontrasted the picture without even asking me, so after a short discussion she decided to move her version to another page. About geolocation and descriptions: mostly, I make descriptions on two languages: Russian and English. The only exceptions are uploads to WLM in Russia — our downloader for it only gives Russian description (we're working on that). And all of drones I've rent has geolocation turned off and I was not allowed to turn it on (IDK why, really). I hope our own drone will have no such problems. Это хорошо. I can understand your arguments. Is there anything that speaks against adding the geo-coordinates to the images afterwards? Should it not be possible to read out the coordinates of the new drone, this work would have to become routine. Can you imagine adding the geographic coordinates to the photos that have already been uploaded? Lantus (talk) 08:16, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I can do it for some of images (and do it sometimes, even for historical ones) but doing that for all of them would be a big long work that we all have no time to do. Красныйwanna talk? 08:23, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see I've misunderstood you a little. You're speaking about the new drone, so yes, It will write coords in metadata, so Commons uploader will automatically put them into file description. Красныйwanna talk? 07:38, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lantus: How's going? It's been more than a month since my request and photographing season is started already, so I need to know at least. Красныйwanna talk? 14:42, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
