Purpose of this edithathon[edit]

I really love Wikidata and I am going to participate in the edithathon. But what is the purpose of this edithaton? Should it inspire worldwide movement leaders to invest more time and efforts for organising Wikidata related projects? Or to teach about (still) new and highly technical project? A mix of all of the above ;-) I would love for more chapters to do local editathons for Wikidata and maybe that'll spark some interest for this. At the same time most people still are very unfamiliar with Wikidata so this should give some intro to the basics for them.
