Talk:Wikimedia Conference 2018/Eligibility Criteria

Slovakia and Croatia[edit]

Hi. I would like to notice that Slovakia and Croatia have unrecognised affiliates. For Slovakia it is Wikimedia Slovakia User Group (AFAIK they are active and legally incorporated), for Croatia it's Wikimedija Hrvatske (AFAIK they are also legally incorporated but less active). Perhaps this should be an opportunity to check with the AffCom if they are eligible at least for the user group status? — NickK (talk) 19:32, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@JAnstee (WMF) and Cornelius Kibelka (WMDE): Just in case you have not noticed, sorry for pinging... — NickK (talk) 18:35, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @NickK:- It is up to groups to apply for user group status. Slovakia, in fact has already been in that process. However, the standard inclusion criteria here apply and user groups must have completed their first year of recognition and reporting for eligibility. Still, if you look at the additional communities invited, Cornelius has already included both those communities as Group 4 invitations to send one representative. @JAnstee (WMF): That's not my point. What I mean is given that these communities are already invited AND they already have unrecognised groups, perhaps it might be a good idea to work with them so that they get recognition and become invited next year as well? — NickK (talk) 19:56, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedians in Thailand[edit]

@Cornelius Kibelka (WMDE): I notice that our user group, Wikimedians in Thailand, was classified as inactive. I guess that's because we didn't update ourself in the Reports earlier. My apologies for that. Just in case, I'm here to confirm that our group is currently active, recognition has been renewed, and the report isn't yet due (May 2018). Cheers. --Athikhun.suw (talk) 23:59, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, @Athikhun.suw:. Jaime (Jaime Anstee (WMF)) takes care of this :) Best regards, --Cornelius Kibelka (WMDE) (talk) 13:35, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@JAnstee (WMF): Just in case you have not noticed. Could you please take care of this?, and sorry for pinging :) --Athikhun.suw (talk) 08:20, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Done, thank you for bringing it to our attention -- DNdubane (WMF) (talk) 15:32, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Group of Wikimedia Italia[edit]

Hi, I notice that Wikimedia Italia is marked as group 1, while according to the definition it should be group 2 (chapter not funded through FDC). - Laurentius (talk) 20:10, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Laurentius:, I confirm that according to the info available, Wikimedia Italia is still listed under Group 1, however please reach out to Kacie Harold to discuss specific issues in terms of funding to attend the conference, she will be able to assist in this regard. --DNdubane (WMF) (talk) 12:35, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Dumisani. @KHarold (WMF): as you can see from the last two rounds, Wikimedia Italy gets no funds through the FDC process; it did in 2015, but not since then. - Laurentius (talk) 17:15, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
