Read candidate statements link in the how to vote template[edit]

The read candidate statements link always links to the Board Candidates instead of the candidate list of e.g. the FDC.--Saehrimnir (talk) 05:36, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for that - it has now been fixed. --Varnent (talk)(COI) 05:41, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ambassadors[edit]

What's new about ambassadors? (see link in bottom section) that proposal seems to have been abandoned in 2005... :-) --g (talk) 14:13, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Use of SecurePoll[edit]

Does anyone know who can set up instances of SecurePoll for elections? I am seeking documentation on who can do this, the circumstances under which it can be done, and how it can be done.

The general question to answer is whether SecurePoll is available for elections of Wikimedia community affiliates, like chapters. Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:47, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Jalexander-WMF! In my opinion, removing translation markup from obsolete strings is not finest way. But if this is needed, please remove "tvar" markup from these strings. --Kaganer (talk) 16:49, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Kaganer: I was sadly hoping that the old translations would keep when I did so since there was no way I could find to stop translation on specific strings (multiple translators were complaining, understandably, of having the old strings in the translation stream and not knowing exactly which ones would be useful). Doesn't look like that happened or is possible :( I'll remove the tvar's as soon as I'm able. Jalexander--WMF 20:54, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Untranslated strings in Template:WMF elections translations[edit]

String with id = "read board candidate presentations" is used for current election - see Template:WMF elections/How to vote/2017, but this string was excluded from translations (see above). This is bad situation. Please restore translation markup for this string from diff. --Kaganer (talk) 22:58, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be done. Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 23:17, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Joe Sutherland, please also add for long link. --Kaganer (talk) 23:35, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Added. (Also you don't need to add the {{edit request}} if you are also pinging me :) Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 23:43, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sure ;) Thanks for fast reaction ;) --Kaganer (talk) 13:30, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please add new translatable item "Vote FAQ". This item is used in the Template:WMF elections. --Kaganer (talk) 23:08, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New unit added. Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 23:17, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please restore the standard logo in Template:WMF elections. This is an election involving all Wikimedia users and should use the logo which is consensually used and widely recognised, not some experiment. --Nemo 09:53, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Nemo bis: That logo is not an experiment - it is the official logo of the Wikimedia Foundation. As the name of this talk page indicates, this is an election relating to the Wikimedia Foundation. Therefore, we are using the Wikimedia Foundation logo for its materials. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 18:18, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's not the official logo of the Wikimedia Foundation, what makes you think so? It was never approved by any decision-making authority and it's not registered. --Nemo 10:05, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Nemo bis: Yes, this is the official logo of the Wikimedia Foundation, approved by Wikimedia Foundation leadership. Any trademark requirements have already been reviewed by the legal team. Heather Walls (WMF) (talk) 16:44, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate that you're convinced of what you say, but you are incorrect. --Nemo 17:12, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If this was part of redesign, it probably would have been better if it was discussed somewhere. Tropicalkitty (talk) 17:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Are you really arguing with foundation employees over what is the foundation's (current) logo? Just saying... -- KTC (talk) 18:00, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Nemo bis: You can follow this link for the official registration record. Ruslik (talk) 18:18, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The links expire after a little while, as I found out by trying to click through. You can search the same database with registration number 4829760 and serial number 86221695 to get the mark info. -- ArielGlenn (talk) 12:29, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

FDC election: what do you mean with FDC-eligible?[edit]

FDC適格は間違いでは? 資金配分規定に適格な実体に助成金を給付すること。 John, my guess is that ...FDC-eligible entities... (or Wikimedia+Foundation+elections%2F2017%2FFunds+Dissemination+Committee/2/ja) will read "...entities eligible to Funds Dissemination criteria...". The subject is not a committee member. It talks about what entities are target to grant. ----Omotecho (talk) 20:31, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Omotecho: You are correct, thanks, in that context it is meant to mean entities eligible to receive grants. Jalexander--WMF 21:09, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Jalexander, thank you for clarifying. May I translate it as "...entities eligible to receive grants..."? --Omotecho (talk) 07:41, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Omotecho That should work fine in that context, yes, thank you. Jalexander--WMF 16:55, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Agree on a more stable definition[edit]

Hi, as described here I'd like to discuss in this talk how to maybe rewrite this page so we all agree on the terms used there. Does "community elections" include Boards' seat nominated by affiliates? Should we cite faciliators too (there is not just the electoral committe)? Should we cite elections on local platform on a different paragraph? They way we definte terms in this page should be the standard for navoboxes, categories and other pages, so they all are named in a consistent way.--Alexmar983 (talk) 00:48, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Whether affiliate seats are community or not shouldn't be a part of this; we should have consistent page naming based on selection process. And we should probably handle this topic after the current election, rather than moving all of the affiliate pages around mid-process. Affiliate-selected and community-elected make sense as categories to me. – Ajraddatz (talk) 01:30, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why were FDC elections not held in May 2019?[edit]

Wikimedia Foundation elections/FDC elections states that "The next community elections will be held in May 2019." They were not. Why not? Please see also here. EllenCT (talk) 21:16, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Need Help adding Nav template for 2021 election page[edit]

Hello IN, very nice to meet you!

In my attempt to create a navigation for the 2021 board elections page, I made changes to Template:WMF elections/sandbox. I have reverted all my changes after realising I was not supposed to edit it. Can you help me create a navigation template for the 2021 upcoming board elections? Any help or guide you can offer will be very helpful. Best,Zuz (WMF) (talk) 09:32, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An error occurs in the template logic. For index 8 and 9, the bracket just after {{{candidate8link}}} should be removed. Same thing for {{{candidate9link}}}. This is breaking the template to render correctly. MPossoupe (WMF) (talk) 22:05, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Has it been fixed with my edit? – Ajraddatz (talk) 22:38, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, all good now. Thank you MPossoupe (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

cast*[edit]

Hello,

  • What does the asterisk mean after cast word in “vote count intro” message?
  • What is the context for “2021 wmf elections” message? Is this a heading?
  • What is the context for “I voted 2021”? What does it mean?

/qqq doc should explain this info. -- Pols12 (talk) 19:11, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fix tvar markup[edit]

Please change * and have made at least '''300''' edits before 15 April 2015 across Wikimedia wikis (edits on several wikis can be combined if your accounts are [[Help:Unified login|unified into a global account]]); to * and have made at least '''300''' edits before 15 April 2015 across Wikimedia wikis (edits on several wikis can be combined if your accounts are [[Help:Unified login|unified into a global account]]);. Since the <tvar> tags are not located in a set of <translate> tags, they aren't getting parsed properly and are causing literal tvar markup to appear on pages like Wikimedia Foundation elections/Board elections/2015 * Pppery * it has begun 01:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done Link modified to special:mylanguage and removed tvar per request.  — billinghurst sDrewth 21:52, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed this was reverted by Minorax. Removing tvar tags here was deliberate, since they aren't part of any <translate>...</translate> markup and the relevant <translate>...</translate> markup was removed by a WMF staff member in 2017 (Special:Diff/16576428) * Pppery * it has begun 01:20, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Reverted. Thanks. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 01:21, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please replace all content of this template with its sandbox version. I have Lua-ified the template and moved all styles to a dedicated subpage (with some minor improvements). NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 22:08, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh: Sorry for the delay response. When previewing template with its sandbox version, It says, "Lua error in Module:WMF_elections_questions at line 69: bad argument #1 to 'insert' (table expected, got string)." could you please fix it? Kind regards, — Tulsi 24x7 03:09, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
