Talk:Wikivoyage/Logo/2013/R1/Results/Runoff

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Wow, 9 hours of work. I never thought that someone really intends to run the IRV until all candidates are eliminated … but you really did. Great.

Can you somehow think of making the process easier and do you intend to do this always by hand (in future)? … while I have to admit that it took me about 8 hours to get the results in the form I added them to Wikivoyage/Logo/2013/R1/Results including writing the script. Finally, would you mind moving this page to Wikivoyage/Logo/2013/R1/Results/Runoff (, /IRV or a better title) -- This will be super helpful for future reference. Thank you for all your great work! -- Rillke (talk) 08:47, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's the way the community wanted it run. :) After this process is over, when we discuss the general approach, I plan to suggest we consider an easier system, unless somebody knows a way to automate this process for easy reuse. (I had originally considered doing this with pen and paper, with a stack of notecards representing each image and slips of paper for each voter, but there were honestly too many.) We had originally envisioned a points system, and I suspect that would have been a lot quicker.
As you can see, I've split out and moved the page - good idea. I started here just as a workspace, but people should be able to revisit it without digging through my sandbox. :D
And thank you for your work. The way you did this - especially in marking out Wikivoyagers - made it all much easier than I anticipated. :) --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 11:35, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
