Tamil Wikimedians/FNF 2025 events
Feminism and Folklore is an international writing contest and photo uploading to Wikicommons organized at Wikipedia annually in the months of February-March to document folk cultures and feminism in different regions of the world on Wikipedia. This is the report of Tamil community who has won various prizes globally. The Community has organised few in-person and online workshops to outreach various communities. Below are the list of events conducted to educate Feminism and folklore contest.

Goals

- yes, We are happy to do outreaches in various form and got 10 new active users and 50+ new users. We have organized 3 inperson workshops in different cities and 1 online workshops. we were not able to organize photowalk as planned due to limited time and initial delayed on financial confirmation. However we able to outreach and make aware various groups on feminism & folklore theme.
Outcome

- We encouraged many users to participate in the contest and 18 users had participated. However as a community we able to create 720+ articles. Due to this campaign, few students has shown their interest with wikimedia problem statements in Language Hackathon.

feedback
[edit]We had a final review cum feedback session on June 1 2025 at Madurai. As per conversation with community we would like to highlight below challenges in FNF activities.
- Discrepancies in Word count in campwiz tool while in submission and while in evaluation. Users pointed that the word count shown at submission level is different then word count shown to judge while in reviewing the articles. We need to fix it in upcoming sessions
- Many users pointed that Since there is lack of comparison stats between communities, we are unable to capitalize the competition momentum. Also it help us to understand the rapid increase of article submissions at the end.
- Users had faced difficulty to find the article titles, Since we are content dense community most of our articles in the theme were already created. Need to bring more suggested article titles with realtime status.
- A user has also pointed that we need to consider higher points for new own word article then translated article. This is help us to understand the gap between the efforts for new article making with translated article.
We hope this will be address in upcoming FNF campaign.
