Wikisource download not working for English

I don't know whether this is the appropriate place to note this; if not, please direct me to the appropriate site. The download tool for English Wikisource (ws-export.wmcloud.org) is not working. I have tested this using the EPUB download links for several texts ([1] [2] [3]) on several different browsers, both mobile (using iOS 7.4.1) and desktop (using Windows 10), and according to [4] other people have been seeing the same problem for almost a month now. On a mobile browser, the export site doesn't load at all; on a desktop browser it returns either a 503 Service Unavailable error message, or an Anubis bot-checking page which does nothing for about 20 seconds before giving a 503 error, or sometimes the message "This web service cannot be reached. Please contact a maintainer of this project." However, the site does seem to work for the Wikisource wikis in at least some languages other than English; in some cursory testing I saw it work for Polish [5] and Latin [6] but not Greek [7]. This problem has been noted on English Wikisource's main talk page (as linked above) around the beginning of this month, apparently without anyone noticing; I am reposting it here so that whoever is responsible for maintaining Wikimedia wiki software will know that this needs to be fixed. - LaetusStudiis (talk) 22:37, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi, this page is for Wikimedia wikis. For MediaWiki, please ask at mw:Project:Support_desk, and include basic information (what does your screenshot show exactly? Where does your screenshot come from exactly? What "virus"? How could someone else reproduce what you see?). Also, please upload images in a better place - visiting imgur.com requires dozens of clicks in their dialogs (which do not offer a 'Refuse all' button) not to sell my data to their ~250 advertisement company partners. Age of voting

Hello I was looking through the voting ages for countries on your wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_majority and it seems that the age of voting for Canada is wrong. Recent Uptick in Scraping

Hi there, I am in contact with a sysAdmin from a big open data project who told me that in the last 48 hours there has been a massive uptick in bots scraping his websites. We are talking about more than 300,000 residential IP addresses. I was wondering if Wikimedia has been experiencing the same issues recently. If so, who could I talk to for more information? Global default signature

Citation pages now under "More"?!

Hi!

I'm an admin on pt.wikt and we noticed that recently (in the last week or so) the Citations tab disappeared from its usual place at the top of the page and is now hidden under the More tab. We would like to have that reversed, because the Citations tab needs more visibility than that.

Where should I go with such a request and who should I talk to?

For the records, that "Citações" item is custom on-wiki code defined via pt:wikt:MediaWiki:Common.js, and I guess that docs like mw:ResourceLoader/Core modules#addPortletLink are relevant. The JavaScript page you mention hasn't been modified since 2023, so that cannot be the cause of our current problem (that started just this week). Other than that, I can only see the contents of the page, not edit it.

It looks like that tab is there when using the Monobook skin, e.g. on https://pt.wiktionary.org/wiki/descangar?useskin=monobook, and not when using the default Vector skin, e.g. on https://pt.wiktionary.org/wiki/descangar?useskin=vector. I didn't spot anything mentioned in latest Tech/News but I could vaguely imagine this to be an intentional change to have a more standardized interface (that is just a personal guess though). Missing "continue" element for categories

Every night, I use the Action API to fetch the categories for 50 articles. Around 27 February, the API stopped returning the "continue" element.

For example, this query would previously return a continue element, which I could use for follow-up requests to ensure all categories had been fetched for all articles.

But now no continue element is returned (example response). You can see that many articles are missing their categories (these articles definitely have many categories in reality), so a continue element is needed to fully populate them.

I also note that cllimit appears to be 500 (see the limits element in the response) but only 374 categories have been returned.

Continuations still appear to work when requesting redirects or other props - just not categories.

It's probably based logged in phabricator, but based on the timeframe, deployment etc, phab:T405812 seems relevant, and this would likely count as a regression.

Action Required: Update templates/modules for electoral maps (Migrating from P1846 to P14226)

Hello everyone,

This is a notice regarding an ongoing data migration on Wikidata that may affect your election-related templates and Lua modules (such as Module:Itemgroup/list).

The Change:
Currently, many templates pull electoral maps from Wikidata using the property P1846, combined with the qualifier P180: Q19571328.

We are migrating this data (across roughly 4,000 items) to a newly created, dedicated property: P14226.

What You Need To Do:
To ensure your templates and infoboxes do not break or lose their maps, please update your local code to fetch data from P14226 instead of the old P1846 + P180 structure. A list of pages was generated using Wikimedia Global Search.

Deadline:
We are temporarily retaining the old data on P1846 to allow for a smooth transition. However, to complete the data cleanup on Wikidata, the old P1846 statements will be removed after May 1, 2026. Please update your modules and templates before this date to prevent any disruption to your wiki's election articles.

Is this where I report a bug in a gadget?

I tried reporting a bug in a gadget to Phabricator and they said they don't support gadgets because gadgets are local content. Is this the way to report it?

The gadget is "Add an [edit] link for the lead section of a page" in the main Wiki, which is enabled at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets-gadget-section-appearance.
