  • Wikimedia Statistics can be difficult to interprete. What is your impression, how many steady contributors do you have?
  1. I would say about 100. Although many experienced users leave a number of interested "newbies" keeps the number constant. Epinheiro 08:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

  • How common is it that your contributors meet in real life?

  • Do you have special contacts with another Wikipedias (maybe in related languages)?
  1. Not much. Spanish and Galician would be in place to develop "special contacts" but that does not occur. Epinheiro 08:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Do you translate a lot from other Wikipedias? Which ones?
  1. Yes. The majority of our featured articles is translated from wiki.en, but wiki.es is also a source for translation. Epinheiro 08:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

  3. Yes. Most of our featured articles are translated from w:en, and w:es seems to be a popular source for translators as well. EuTugamsg 13:53, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

  1. We do not do propaganda, some media pays atention to the major controversies (portuguese PM, football players transfers, aircrash) and some academia publishes papers/thesis on the community. Epinheiro 08:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Does your edition concentrates on certain topics, like your region and language, or Latin Wikipedia on Roman history and Christianity?
  1. There is a focus in Geography (our countries and cities through out the world). Epinheiro 08:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

  3. There's a focus on portuguese and brazilian geography/history (as you might expect), and topics like anime/manga, football and television are also very popular. EuTugamsg 17:12, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
  4. There are many projects happening right now. Bots have focused on creating articles on the Tree of Life WikiProject, Geography, Astronomy, etc. But apparently a lot of editors are interested in Anime, Soap operas, Football. There are a lot of Wikiprojects about Brasil as well one or two about Portugal. GoEThe 21:28, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
  • Did your edition enjoy text donations, for example from older encyclopedias?

Language[edit]

  • Is there a generally accepted norm about your language (spelling, dictionary, pronunciation)?
  1. No, there is european and brazilian portuguese. Politic efforts are underway to create a unique norm but it is not generally accepted. Epinheiro 08:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

  4. There are two norms, as the others said. The governments of all the Portuguese-speaking countries have recently made a treaty to bring the two norms closer together in the next couple of years. But there will still be differences. GoEThe 21:31, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
  • How do you deal with different spellings, dialects etc. (like B.E. lift and A.E. elevator)?
  1. It is forbidden to change the original norm unless you change the majority of the article. This leads to cases in which both norms coexist. Epinheiro 08:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
