Issues with this page on mobile[edit]

I incidentally got a chance to visit Connect/IdeaLab on a mobile browser (Firefox Nightly on an Android 5.1.1 device, 4.2"). I found that it wasn't looking so good in the small screen [1][2]. I thought of improving the template that was used by Connect/Idealab hoping it would make it look on mobile by using the Template:Responsive two-column template. I was told by DAlangi (WMF) that it actually broke the initial UI/UX design. I'm sorry about that. It would be nice if changes were made to fix the bad formatting on smaller screens[1][2] as a consequence of using this template.

Note to DAlangi (WMF):

  • It would be nice if a <!-- comment --> was added in the Wiki source of this template that clarifies that this template is under development and to report any issues in the talk page rather than editing it directly. This might avoid people like me from interfering the development ;-)
  • I suppose that the the first edit I made has nothing to do with breaking your UI/UX and it was just done with a motive of improving the readability of the source (I had a hard time finding the matching start and end tags, really). You might consider bringing it back.

Thanks, Kaartic correct me, if i'm wrong 08:04, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

Hello Kaartic, thank you so much for this report, indeed we're grateful. I'll start tracking this and make sure updates and improvements are being made. Also with regards to the point about some comments due to development still going on, it's a great idea and has been taken into consideration. Thanks a lot. Please do reach out if anything else :) --DAlangi (WMF) (talk) 10:46, 7 July 2018 (UTC)

Usage[edit]

This is the template that generates individual Connect subpages, including Connect/Learning and Evaluation.

When using this, make sure to create the corresponding talk page and to create a /Members subpage e.g. Connect/Learning and Evaluation/Members.

Main parameters[edit]

  • icon – an icon to represent the group. Optional; a default picture is used if no value given.
  • introduction – a brief introduction of the group and what it's about. Technically optional but you should really have a description.

External website links[edit]

This template uses Module:Social links to render a list of URLs with associated site icons. This is particularly useful if you want to link to e.g. a Facebook or Telegram group. The template currently supports 34 websites, and the parameters take the form of <website name> = <URL>. Feel free to copy the boilerplate below, omitting the fields you are not using.
