This template is used in MediaWiki:Newarticletext.

About this template

This is the newarticletext template that is displayed when creating a new page on Meta-Wiki. It is transcluded in MediaWiki:Newarticletext, a system message that appears when creating a new page on this project. This template is not used on many pages as the purpose of this template was to be used in a system message.

This template should be used only in MediaWiki:Newarticletext.

General information

What is a system message?

A system message is a page that forms part of the MediaWiki interface on Wikimedia projects. They are automatically protected by the MediaWiki software and can be edited only by administrators, interface administrators, and global interface editors. Furthermore, only interface administrators and global interface editors can edit JavaScript and CSS pages within the MediaWiki namespace.

How is a system message identified?

System messages are identified in the MediaWiki namespace, which is a namespace that is automatically protected by the MediaWiki software.
