Template talk:Cite journal

Update needed[edit]

Todo note: This should be updated with the changes that were made to the source template on enwiki over the last several years. See e.g the result of [1] (missing support for the "chapter" parameter etc.). Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 06:02, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And Guillaume just took care of this, thanks a lot!
Now it should be decided what to do with the links to ISBN, PMID, ISSN etc. that the template generates in its current version - e.g. Research:Newsletter/2015/May#References suddenly contains a lot of red links now. Soft redirects to enwiki like done earlier for Digital object identifier? Same with Template:Cite conference and ISBN. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 22:34, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Tilman: You're welcome! I was going to argue for linking directly to the appropriate articles on the English Wikipedia (because it didn't really make sense to me to have soft redirects) but then I realized that that would require editing the Lua module(s). We probably don't want to do that, to keep maximum compatibility with future updates, so I agree that soft redirects are probably the best solution. I'm happy to create them. I've created the soft redirects I would find, and also added a few __HIDDENCAT__ to maintenance categories. Guillaume (WMF) (talk) 01:12, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree that direct interwiki links to the original target (e.g. [[w:arXiv|arXiv]] instead of [[arXiv]]) are preferable. Unfortunately I don't know how to implement that right now, so I'm creating a few more soft redirects now as a workaround. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 21:36, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

EISSN[edit]

Looks like the template needs to be updated with this field [2] (from a Zotero export, works OK on enwiki). Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 11:51, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This issue still isn't resolved. Regards, Tbayer (WMF) (talk) 21:29, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
