Spotlight: Citation Watchlist
[edit]- This is a guest post by Ocaasi
Wikipedia thrives on reliable, credible, and well-sourced information. But keeping an eye on every edit that impacts article citations can be time-consuming. That's why we're excited to introduce Citation Watchlist, a user-friendly tool designed specifically to simplify the task of monitoring citation changes. Citation Watchlist alerts you whenever references are modified—highlighting when questionable sources sneak in or trusted citations vanish. It works alongside watchlist, contributions, article history, and recent changes pages.
For dedicated Wikipedia Library users, who deeply value research and rigorous sourcing, Citation Watchlist offers a significant advantage. You can effortlessly track edits related to sources, identify problems early, and quickly respond to maintain the integrity of Wikipedia's information. The tool is especially useful for editors passionate about improving Wikipedia's content quality and ensuring that readers can rely on our trustworthy references.
We warmly invite Books & Bytes readers to pilot the beta version of Citation Watchlist. Your experience, insight, and feedback are essential: by testing and commenting on the tool, you'll help us fine-tune its capabilities and effectiveness. Together, we can enhance Wikipedia's citation quality and safeguard its reliability for readers around the world. Much appreciation to our generous funders, Hacks/Hackers and Wikimedia CH. Please provide feedback at The Citation Watchlist Talk Page.
