How to register

To join this contest, please create your contribution claim and add it in the section below. Then, when you create or improve pages in any languages, come back there and add a link to each page under your name, with the score you claim. Our scoring system is explained below with examples.


How to calculate your points

You are responsible for counting your own points. Please follow the provided structure in your example claim and constantly update your contribution accordingly.

Wikipedia article contributions:

  • +1 point for every +1,000 bytes of added content to an existing or new Wikipedia article in any language.
  • +2 points for each substantially improved article. "Substantial improvement" means adding at least one paragraph of sourced content, significantly copyediting a large portion of the article, or making other meaningful enhancements.
  • +10 points if your article is one from the suggested list.
  • +25 points for a Good Article in any language.


What are bytes? Bytes measure the size of text in an article, and you can see the number of bytes in the edit history after you save a page.

Important! Newly created articles should be at least 3500 bytes long to count!


Wikidata contributions:

  • +3 points for each new Wikidata item created (must meet basic notability and include at least a label and description)
  • +1 point for every 5 statements added
  • +1 point for every 5 labels, descriptions, or aliases added
  • +1 point for every 3 references added to statements
  • +5 points for created/improved item from the suggested list.

Important! The item should contain one of the following: P17=Q212, P27=Q212, P1412=Q8798, P407=Q8798, or be otherwise connected with the topic of Ukrainian culture.

Examples

Wikipedia:

  • If you translate an existing article into e.g. Irish and it is 4,100 bytes long, you get 4 points.
  • If you add 3,900 bytes of content to an existing article, you get 6 points: 4 points for the size and 2 points for improvement.
  • If you improve a suggested article by adding 5000 bytes of wikitext (templates, infoboxes, citations) to an existing article, you get 17 points: 5 points for size + 2 points for improvement + 10 bonus points.
  • If you created an article and nominated it for Good Article status, mention it in your claim! Review of a nominated article may take some time, so we will wait two weeks after the contest ends to see if the nomination succeeded. If your article receives Good Article status, you get 25 points.

Wikidata:

  • If you create 2 new Wikidata items, you get 6 points.
  • If you add 10 statements to existing items, you get 2 points.
  • If you add 5 labels/descriptions in different languages, you get 1 point.
  • If you add 6 references to statements, you get 2 points.
  • If you both create a new item from a suggested list and add 10 statements to it, you get 3 + 5 + 2 = 10 points.


The organizers have the final say in the scoring of the contributions and will clarify the rules and points if needed. Please note that the aim is to improve Wikipedia with high-quality articles, so any content of low quality that has been added will lose points or even result in a ban from the contest if the organizers decide so. Please follow the Five pillars and other rules of Wikipedia: choose notable topics, write neutrally, cite reliable sources, do not leave unedited machine translation etc.
