| Tell us who you are, why you are applying, and your relevant experience. | Hi all! I am BRPever from Nepal. I grew up in a small village in the plains of Nepal, and have experienced different cultures, languages, and quite a diverse community. Although not as diverse as what we see in Wikimedia movement, I have lived in a community where many different groups of people live harmoniously. And I feel like U4C will benefit from having someone from my background at the table.
Onwiki, I am a former steward who is currently assisting many small language communities as a global sysop. During this, I have had the experience of interacting with many users from small communities, including some admins who are remarkably dedicated to their projects, and it would be a great honour to work with them and help them as a member of this Coordinating Committee. I have also worked as an admin and CU in some projects like simplewiki and wikidata both of which have a decent size community. Many times, I have observed difficulties that some users face when there is no code of conduct or when enforcing bodies aren't acting as intended, and I think my input and participation would be directed in helping those people. |
| Please describe what do you hope to do if elected. | If elected I would work on cases with the necessary due-diligence and level-headedness, and give my take. I know it gets very stressful, so it is equally important that U4C takes measures to calm the tension. The cases we get come here when all local measures to uphold UCoC have failed, so I don't expect them to be easy. However, I will do my best to understand and suggest ways to resolve the problems.
I will also clarify that as the name suggests, I am taking this as a coordinating role. So my main motive will be to support and help the local enforcement bodies to be able to enforce UCoC themselves, to try to avoid more issues in the future. It can be by offering potential ways in which the wiki will be able to resolve the issues themselves, for example through adjustments to processes or policies. My third goal is to try and make the experience less complex for those facing real problems but are lacking familiarity with English language and western culture. Depending on the views, there can be simple solution for complex problems. My goal is to use my experience and explore those in our processes. |
