| Tell us who you are, why you are applying, and your relevant experience. | Hi. I am Vikram . I have been a regular editor of Wikipedia who has made edits on various topics but my contributions have been related to the game of Cricket. I haven't been a part of any Committee in Wikipedia so far. I did attend a TTT workshop a few years ago. Post that I did visit a few schools along with small teams and spread the awareness about wikipedia. This has been my main contribution for Wiki movement so far, besides making edits, the count of which is more than 32000 now. I am keen in taking this role as now I would be able to budget some time for this activity. Moreover, in my previous organisation I was a part of Core Committee that was responsible for developing the Code of Conduct for the company. |
| Please describe what do you hope to do if elected. | As I have mentioned above that I have been a part of the team responsible for developing the Code of Conduct to be followed in the Organisation. In Wikipedia, I am sure that things are already put in place, that need to be enhanced further as a part of continuous improvement. As a part of the committee, I need to develop guidelines that outline pathways for addressing violations of the code. Behavioural standards need to be put in place so that respective communities contribute towards the free knowledge mission of Wiki. An environment/system will have to be created, which will address to reduction of knowledge gaps of the users. Team can build/improvise templates that focus on defining the policies and procedures for various projects. Topics of Online trolling, insults/threats, edit-warring, sexual harrasment and other kinds of vandalism need to covered extensively and system needs to be put in place to minimise these. All cultural differences/variations need to be respected Code of Conducts needs to define actions to be taken to ensure that there aren't any violations in this regard. I have mentioned a few points in bits and pieces but would like to sum up stating that my previous experience will really be helpful in Coordinating Committee. |
