[edit]Hello! I am Catherine Tovar Riobo (Cathetovar) I am a Food Engineer, researcher, and current Ph.D. student in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department. My academic work and research focus on the development of biomaterials, sustainable technologies, and automation applied to agriculture and environmental sustainability.
In the digital and community spheres, I am a passionate advocate for open knowledge, open science, and the development of inclusive sociotechnical infrastructure for Latin America.
My Focus in the Wikimedia Movement Within the Wikimedia ecosystem, my work seeks to build bridges between scientific academia, technical development, and local communities. I firmly believe that the Global South must represent itself on the Internet by documenting its own scientific advancements, traditional knowledge, and regional realities.
Areas of Interest and Contribution: EduWiki and Open Science: Designing methodologies to integrate university research and open scientific data into platforms like Wikipedia and Wikidata.
Structured Data and Automation: Exploring automation tools, collaborative workflows, and data processing to optimize categorization on Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.
Community Campaigns: Active participation in global and regional cultural and natural documentation initiatives (such as Wiki Loves Folklore).
Technical and Professional Interests Biological engineering and the development of sustainable bioproducts.

What I am doing here?
[edit]I am here to bridge the gap between scientific academia and open knowledge in Latin America. My main objective is to design sociotechnical workflows that integrate open scientific data, sustainable research, and regional academic contributions into platforms like Wikidata, Wikipedia, and Wikimedia Commons. Currently, I am actively engaging with the LATAM regional community, supporting local campaigns, and preparing technical proposals for upcoming regional initiatives and hackathons.
