[edit]Who knows me personally is surely aware of my love for the C language, the idea it self of commanding a machine, in the most detailed of ways, through a human readable language amazes me every time I think about it. Just thinking about variable swapping using XOR operations is like poetry to me.
I find though that the evolution of computers went in two different directions, while hardware has evolved exponentially software is not as efficient as it used to be.
It almost hurts to think about how we, as programmers, excelled in programming due to the physical limitations of our technology. While today, since we have more forgiving environments, we're more lenient on our impact on performance and complexity of our solutions and I personally think this is something we should strive away from. Also because we often forget that bad code harms the environment[1].
