Contribution to OpenStreetMap and Open Data
[edit]I began mapping actively after encountering inaccurate maps in my Tbilisi neighborhood, which prevented couriers from finding my home. This hobby evolved into a systematic contribution to creating accurate and free maps.
- OpenStreetMap Statistics:
- Over 43,000 map edits.
- Ranked 13th by activity among contributors in Georgia.
- Active user of JOSM, Rapid, and mobile applications for data collection.
- Mapillary Contribution:
- Uploaded over 103,500 panoramic images.
- Covered more than 470 km of routes to improve map detail.
- Active contributor to MusicBrainz and Yandex Maps.
Professional Experience and Education
[edit]- I began my career as a Business Analyst in consulting (Paragon Consulting), where I analyzed markets and developed business strategies.
- Later, I worked in Product Operations at the international tech company DiDi, conducting research for product launches in new markets.
- As a Lead Product Manager at DeskAlerts, I managed the full lifecycle of B2B SaaS products, responsible for product strategy, roadmap, and launch.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in International Relations (SPbU, 2016) and a Master's degree in Management (GSOM, 2021). During my master's studies, I was a recipient of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation scholarship (2020/2021).
Tools & Technologies
[edit]- Analytics & Visualization: SQL, Python (Pandas, Matplotlib), Power BI, Tableau, Google Analytics
- Product Management: Jira, Confluence, Miro, Figma, Agile (Scrum, Kanban)
- Cybersecurity: Lynis, Wireshark, Nmap, OpenVAS, Metasploit Framework
- Operating Systems: Linux (Ubuntu Server), Windows, macOS
Hobbies and Volunteer Activities
[edit]Cybersecurity
[edit]A lifelong passion that has evolved into practical expertise. I focus on system hardening, with my personal Ubuntu VPS achieving a score of 89/100 on Lynis. I regularly analyze and submit malware samples to VirusTotal and share knowledge within IT communities.
Community Involvement
[edit]- Regular blood donor (since 2019 [currently on hold]).
- Participant in distributed computing projects Folding@home and BOINC to support scientific research (since 2019 and 2013, respectively).
- Formerly a volunteer at major international events, including the G20 summit in St. Petersburg (2013).
Stance on the Georgian Wikipedia
[edit]In July 2025, I decided to cease my participation in the Georgian Wikipedia project. This decision stemmed from a fundamental disagreement with the project's administration regarding quality standards and the acceptable depth of article content.
My detailed and extensively sourced article on Orkhevi (based on over 145 sources), a translation and adaptation of my Russian article Орхеви (посёлок в Тбилиси), was deemed "unencyclopedic," a violation of the original research policy, and was cut by a third. As I believe this approach hinders the creation of truly high-quality, comprehensive content, I found further contributions to this project to be untenable.
Details of the discussion can be found here (archived copy).
I continue my work on other Wikimedia projects, including the Russian and English Wikipedias, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata, as well as in OpenStreetMap.
