About me

My name is Jonathan. I joined the Software Development and Management Teams at Wikimedia Deutschland in August 2022 as the Leitung für KI. This translates culturally into "Director of AI for Free and Open Knowledge," depending on the language.

I received my PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Maryland with pre-doctoral fellowship work at CalTech and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Before that, I received two M.Sc. degrees from the University of Maryland (Astronomy) and the University of Central Florida (Mathematics), and a B.Sc. degree from the University of Central Florida (Physics).

My work

I am the Director of AI for Free and Open Knowledge at Wikimedia Deutschland. I lead the AI for Free and Open Knowledge program, working with collaborators around the world to shape the generative AI web to improve free and open knowledge (e.g., combating genAI mis- and disinformation).
