Hello! I'm Janrel, a Wikimedian from Cebu, Philippines.
These days, I spend most of my time contributing to Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. I enjoy improving structured data, documenting places through photography, and occasionally building tools or redesigning Meta-Wiki pages that make contributing a little easier.
What keeps me curious
[edit]I've always enjoyed figuring out how things work—and how they can work better.
That curiosity has taken me in many different directions. Sometimes it's improving a Wikidata item. Other times it's riding somewhere I've never been before with a camera in my bag, hoping to discover something worth documenting.
I don't really separate technology, photography, or Wikimedia. To me, they're all different ways of exploring and sharing what I learn.
Things I'm building
[edit]I enjoy projects that solve problems or make information easier to access.
Some of the things I'm currently working on include:
- Designing and improving Meta-Wiki pages
- Automating Wikidata workflows with Quickstatements
- Building websites for community projects, and systems.
- Exploring how AI can support learning and digital literacy
- Documenting places through Wikimedia Commons
Away from the Keyboard
[edit]When I'm not editing, I'm usually out riding my motorcycle, taking photographs, spending time with my family and friends, or enjoying music.
I'm also a vocalist of a band called Water Supply. My speaking voice is often describe as calm and cold, so singing is probably where I make up for it. Bread has always been one of my favorite bands to sing.
Travel has become one of my favorite ways to discover places and stories that deserve to be remembered. More often than not, a ride ends with a few new photos, and sometimes another contribution to Wikimedia Commons.
"I hope to leave things a little better than I found them"
One edit, one photograph, one project, and one journey at a time.
Thank you for stopping by. See you around Wikimedia!
