About me
I am Lhoussine Bentayfaste from Morocco. My primary focus within the Wikimedia movement is to promote and expand the presence of the Amazigh language across all Wikimedia projects. I am an active contributor to Wikimedia Incubator, Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, and translatewiki. I also participate in initiatives such as LinguaLibre, Phabricator, and Toolforge to support the technical and linguistic infrastructure of the projects.
My work
My Wikimedia involvement, which began in 2020 on the Wikimedia Incubator, has been centered on developing the Amazigh language ecosystem. A key focus has been project creation, where I co-founded the Tachelhit Wikipedia (2021), the Standard Moroccan Tamazight Wikipedia (2023), and the Standard Moroccan Tamazight Wiktionary (2025). To support these and related projects, I contribute across the technical and content spectrum: I translate interfaces via Translatewiki, address technical issues on Phabricator, record lexical items on Lingua Libre, enrich data on Wikidata, and upload multimedia resources to Wikimedia Commons. I also maintain the "Amazigh Bot" on Toolforge to automate tasks on zghwiki, shiwiki and on Wikidata. As an administrator on the Standard Moroccan Tamazight Wikipedia and Wiktionary, I focus on community growth and content improvement. This includes organizing and co-organizing three in-person workshops and numerous online training sessions, alongside continuously mentoring new users to expand and sustain the Amazigh contributor community. I actively engage with the Wikimedia community through conference participation, including: Wikimania 2024 (Katowice, Poland), Wikiarabia 2022 (Dubai, UAE), WikiCamp Morocco (2023, 2024, 2025).
