About me
My name is Mohammad, and within the Wikimedia movement I mostly go by the username Darafsh, inspired by the legendary Derafsh Kaviani. I am Iranian, born and raised in Iran, and currently living in Hamburg, Germany. I studied History at Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, completed my MA in Ancient Iranian History at University of Tehran, and subsequently earned a second MA in Manuscript Cultures at the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC), University of Hamburg.
Outside of my academic and Wikimedia activities, I enjoy watching movies and traveling. I also have a professional interest in beer culture and am currently writing a book in Persian on the cultural history and practices of beer consumption. In my free time, I collect coins, enjoy baking bread, and have a strong interest in analog photography.
My work
I work as a Program Specialist at the Wikimedia CEE Hub, where I support and strengthen Wikimedia communities across Central and Eastern Europe by coordinating regional programs and campaigns, facilitating collaboration between volunteers and affiliates, and helping design, implement, and evaluate initiatives that advance free knowledge, community capacity-building, and cross-regional cooperation within the Wikimedia movement.
