I'm a Finnish software and language engineer, with a M.A. in Language Technology. I've been a free software contributor since 2003. I joined Wikipedia in 2004 and soon became a MediaWiki translator. To aid my translation work, I created translatewiki.net. Now thousands of volunteer translators use it to translate of many dozens of free software projects in hundreds of languages.
I have a long and broad experience in developing and running MediaWiki for small and big sites.
I started working for Wikimedia Foundation in 2011. I continue doing what brought me to MediaWiki: making the translation process easy and fast. This includes a lot of i18n (making the software translatable) and facilitating l10n (adapting and translating the software to particular language and culture).
My main areas of work are language selector, input methods, webfonts, translation infrastructure and translation tools for for user interface messages, banners, documentation and Wikipedia articles.
