One of my New Year's resolutions for 2026 is to become a better Wikipedia editor.

I currently serve on the board of Wikimedia Europe.

From September 2021-June 2025 I was Vice President for Global Advocacy at the Wikimedia Foundation. From July-December 2025 I was Special Advisor to the Foundation.

In other spheres, I am co-founder and board member of Global Voices.

In 2012, I published a book, Consent of the Networked, in which I warned that "networked authoritarianism" would spread globally unless people at tech companies, in government, and across civil society took responsibility for changing the trajectory. I was accused of being paranoid at the time. Sigh.
